Such a Sad, Sad Day

Today, my almost 18 year old Kitty died. He has been sick for awhile, so I knew it would be soon, but it was still such a HARD day! I had to take my children to Heritage Day at our church, as my son was in a play. We had planned to take Ninjinsky to the vet to have him "put to sleep," but when my husband returned home to pick him up, he was already gone. We feel blessed that he could die at home and not have to be poked and prodded by a vet!!! 'Jinsky was born to my husband's favorite cat in 1989. We had decided to keep him, after my nagging and begging, on our way home from our honeymoon. He was named for the infamous Russian ballet star. Unlike his namesake, he WAS not a graceful cat on his feet! He was my first "baby" and he led a long, happy life! I hope he is somewhere playing "sheet wars", indulging in cat nip and play fighting with "gone" Keeshonds!

The death of a beloved pet is always so darned hard to get through.

Sorry about the loss of your cat - but it must be nice to know that you gave him 18 comfortable and peaceful years.

Oh Rebecca, I am so sorry for your loss. When my husband and I married we got a dog and had her before the boys, and she lived 16 years. I remember the feeling of loss. She was my first baby too. We went several years without a dog because it was so hard, but I have since learned that we should have gotten a dog sooner and I will never be without a dog now. I had cats when I was young, but my husband and second son can't be around cat's because of allergies.
Take care, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs, Terri

OH MY! You poor thing! This makes me tear up. I am such a cat person, and I remember how sad it was when I lost my cat 2 years ago. Sending lots of hugs!
