Altered Faux Roses

I thought these turned out beautiful, and they were soooo simple! I just cut about 6 petal shaped pieces from vintage paper items, inked the edges and then glued them in place. Then, I tipped the edges of the rose petals and covered the plastic sepals with glitter. These are so pretty and would be gorgeous in a bouquet, if left on their stems.

I have received my Secret Admirer Valentine gift and it is STUNNING! My secret friend was Debi Huntsman of Life in My Studio. One World One Heart Blog Event 2010 Giveaway

For those who do not yet know me, I am a homeschooling mom of two, wife of one wonderful husband and a mixed media artist who loves Marie Antoinette, Alice in Wonderland, L.M. Montgomery, Mollusks, Candy Land, H.P. Lovecraft and Halloween. I also dabble in watercolor and pen and ink illustration. I spend a lot of my free time running the Marie Antoinette Mail Art site and creating art.
This year, I have decided to join in on the One World One Heart Blog event! This year's theme is a magic carpet ride! I love the Arabian Nights and the magic of the old, old stories. And, I love Marie Antoinette, who would have reveled in the rich and lush fairy tales of old Arabia...just think, during her time the Arabic nations were first coming to notice as culturally and archaeologically rich regions, newly open to exploration, yet still seen as mysterious and slightly sinister. What a perfect match for the decadent, exotic and dangerous French Court of Versailles. So, for this event, I am offering a Marie Antoinette ribbon dolly necklace. She is hand sewn with a sweet needle felted face, complete with towering pink hair and roses on a ribbon necklace.

Let them eat...Lace Cake Books!

The lace cake 6x 6 book page swap is all done now! I received 5 beautiful pages and had five of my own to keep, so I bound them altogether and alternated them. Since photos of my pages are show elsewhere in this blog, I only took photos of the covers I made and the pages contributed by other players. The other players were: Rhonda Thomas, Terri Gordon, Terri Gauthier, Debra Abel and Jeanne Szewyzck. The pages are in order as such: Covers, and the artist's are in teh same order as I listed there names. Enjoy!
